Established in 1958 Comet Swimming Club, Tairawhiti’s longest standing swimming club, has been a proud part of our community for generations — championing not just swimmers, but whanau wellbeing and lifelong water safety. At the heart of the club is a deep commitment to our tamariki, nurturing their water confidence from the very first splash through to becoming strong, capable swimmers. Comet believes that every child deserves the skill of swimming — not just for sport, but for safety, for joy, for hauora, and for a lifelong connection to our moana and waterways. Our purpose is to deliver inclusive, high-quality aquatic programmes that nurture safety, wellbeing, and achievement while building strong connections with our whānau, whenua, and the wider Tairāwhiti community.
