Volunteering should be enjoyable, meaningful, and tailored to you. We’d love to hear about what you want out of the experience. Whether you’re looking for something specific or just exploring your options, come in for a chat!
We’re here to make volunteering accessible for everyone. Need help filling out the registration form? No problem! We’re happy to assist. You’re also welcome to bring a support person when you visit us.
What to Expect from a Chat or an 'Interview' with Gisborne Volunteer Centre
When you meet with one of our team, here’s what will happen:
Let’s Get to Know You
This isn’t a job interview - no CV needed! We’re here to support you in finding a volunteering role that suits your interests, strengths, and schedule. We’ll chat about your goals for volunteering; who you’d like to work with, the types of roles you’re drawn to, your hobbies and skills, and what kind of experience you’re hoping to gain. We’ll also talk about practical things like your availability, location, and current commitments.
Explore Volunteer Opportunities
We’ll introduce you to a range of roles that match your interests and goals. You’ll have a chance to ask questions, discuss what appeals to you, and explore what each role might involve.
Next Steps - If You’re Ready
If something stands out to you, we’ll get in touch with the community organisation and set up a connection. You’ll then be able to talk with them directly to see if it’s the right fit. The decision to go ahead is always up to you.
Not ready to choose a role just yet? That’s totally fine. You’re welcome to take your time and get back to us when you’re ready.
We're here to help you take the first step - no pressure, just possibilities! We look forward to meeting with you soon.
