We want volunteer opportunities to be fun and interesting for you, chat to us about what you want and your needs. We want opportunities to be accessible for you. We can help you fill out the registration form, and of course you are welcome to bring a support person with you when you visit us.
The consultation with a Volunteer Advisor consists of:
Finding out about you: We will ask about your goals for volunteering, who you might like to work with and what sort of volunteering roles you might like to do. Also we’ll talk about your current situation (location, employment, time available, etc.)
Discussing possible volunteer roles: We will provide information on relevant volunteering roles. You can discuss these roles and their appeal and suitability for you and what you want to get from volunteering.
Taking the next step: If you find a role you are interested in, we will contact the community organisation offering the role and make arrangements for them to contact you and discuss the role in more detail. There is no obligation to take on the role - just an opportunity to talk about it and find out if it works for you and you would fit in well. If you are undecided about what role(s) you are interested in, you do not have to decide straight away – you are welcome to contact us after you have given it more consideration.
A meeting with one of us is not a job interview, and you don't need to bring your CV. We aim to use our knowledge of the non-profit sector to find the most suitable role for your particular wants and needs. After that it is up to you and the organisation you have selected to discuss the role further, and the choice to proceed is always yours.
