Volunteers fulfil a range of roles in an emergency event including community coordination, practical tasks, people support, administration and more. Putting your hand up to volunteer in an emergency can be both rewarding and challenging and its helpful to do this in a time of readiness.

The Gisborne Volunteer Centre maintains a database of people who are happy to be contacted for assistance in the event of an emergency or adverse event.

Would you like to help out? Here's how it works:

  • Complete the quick application with your contact details and skills that you have to offer
  • If an emergency situation arises, you may be contacted by us and asked if you can assist
  • We offer trainings and events to connect however for most volunteer roles attendance is not mandatory
  • You can change your details or opt out at any time, an automatic email is sent annually to ensure your information is up to date

Please note, you must be at least 18 years old and live within or near to the Gisborne region).
