Water Confidence Class Greeter

Every Thursday morning during school term, you'll greet parents and their tamariki as they arrive for water confidence classes, helping them feel welcome from the moment they walk in. You'll record attendees, be on hand poolside in case anyone needs a bit of help (think handing over a towel, not jumping in yourself, this is a stay-dry role), and occasionally hand out flyers or share bits of news with the group.

Classes range from 2 to 10 tamariki and their parents, so no two sessions are quite the same. It's a relaxed, no-admin role, just a warm, down-to-earth manner and a friendly face people can count on each week.

For the families who come along, your presence helps make the pool a welcoming, reassuring place to build water confidence together. For you, it's a chance to be part of a supportive team, build connections with local whānau, and give back to an organisation that's supported families for over 110 years.

Requirements:
  • A respectful, down-to-earth, and friendly manner
  • Comfortable being around water and tamariki (no swimming or lifeguard duties involved)
  • Reliable, as families come to count on a familiar face each week

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

Approximately 1 hour per week, Thursday mornings during school terms (class itself is 30 minutes, with time either side to welcome and assist). Ideally, a 12-month commitment.
