As part of its wrap-around support services, Te Hapara Family Services provides kai parcels to people and families experiencing hardship. This volunteer role is an important part of making sure donated food reaches those who need it most.

You'll collect the organisation vehicle from Te Hapara Family Services, pick up donated food from central Gisborne and then return to Te Hapara Family Services. Here you'll sort and store food and make up kai parcels.

This is a practical, hands-on role where no two days are quite the same. You'll become a familiar and friendly face, helping ensure valuable food donations are shared throughout the community.

Full training is provided, including a buddy to go with you until you've got the hang of it.

Requirements:
  • Full, clean New Zealand driver's licence
  • Comfortable driving and parking in central Gisborne
  • Friendly and dependable attitude
  • Willingness to follow food handling and health and safety procedures

A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

Help is needed on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 10:00am to approximately 11:30am
Regular weekly commitment preferred.
