Location:

Help guide the future of SheCreates as we establish a charitable trust supporting wāhine artists across Tairāwhiti.

SheCreatesTairāwhiti began through monthly social networking gatherings at local cafés, creating space for wāhine artists to connect, encourage each other, and build creative community. We’re now looking for trustees to help shape the next stage of the journey.

As a trustee, you’ll help support the vision and direction of SheCreates as it grows into a charitable trust. This includes helping us create more opportunities for wāhine artists to be seen, connected, and involved in the wider Tairāwhiti community through projects like art exhibitions, artwork donations to local organisations, and future workshops for artists and schools.

You don’t need to be an expert in governance to get involved, although if you do, that would be great! We’re looking for people who care about creativity, community, and uplifting wāhine voices. Your ideas, perspective, and willingness to contribute are what matter most.

This role is a chance to be part of something community-led and evolving, while helping create more opportunities for local artists to thrive and connect.

Good fit for someone who:

  • Cares about arts, culture, and community connection
  • Wants to support wāhine artists in Tairāwhiti
  • Enjoys collaborating and sharing ideas
  • Is reliable and willing to contribute to planning and decision-making
Requirements:

We’re looking for people with a positive attitude, good communication, and a genuine interest in supporting community arts initiatives. Previous governance or trustee experience is welcome but not required. A willingness to work collaboratively and help shape the future direction of the trust is important.

Time commitment:

Trustees would attend meetings regularly, to be set at an agreed time and interval. Occasional involvement in events, planning, or community projects as needed. Some tasks to be completed remotely between meetings.

Getting started:
The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.
