Support a local board or committee member by lending an ear, sharing your experience, and helping them grow in confidence.

The Community Governance Mentoring Programme connects experienced board and committee members with those looking to grow their confidence and capability in governance roles.

As a mentor, you’ll work one-on-one with a matched participant, offering guidance, asking thoughtful questions, and sharing practical insight based on your own experience. This is not about having all the answers, but about supporting someone to navigate real scenarios in their own organisation.

You’ll be part of strengthening community organisations across Tairāwhiti by helping others put good governance into practice.

Requirements:
  • Experience serving on a board or committee
  • Good understanding of governance in practice
  • Ability to listen, guide, and ask thoughtful questions
  • Supportive and non-directive approach
