This volunteer role is ideal for someone who enjoys walking and companionship, supports inclusion and accessibility in your community, and stays active and loves making a real difference in someone’s life.
It includes providing safe, guided walking support for someone with vision loss, assisting with navigation, obstacles, and general orientation, enjoying friendly conversation and light exercise in the fresh air, and helping to promote independence, confidence, and connection.
You don’t need prior experience – just a caring attitude and willingness to learn. Basic training or guidance on sighted guiding will be provided.
Role: Sighted Guide for Walks.
Location: Various areas around Gisborne, parks, beaches, etc. (Driver's license required).
Weekly, as arranged with volunteer.
