A Care and Craft Centre caters for adults with disabilities or lonely, housebound people who are encouraged to participate in a wide variety of handcrafts and social activities.
Here in Gisborne we have a diverse range of guests in attendance and have become the hub for a few groups, including Idea Services and Deaf Aotearoa. Join us in providing a friendly and safe environment for our guests to participate in activities such as knitting, weaving, painting, jigsaws, games - to name a few!
The current supervisor is stepping back after over 30 years - we are seeking a committed volunteer to manage the Gisborne Care and Craft Centre. It's vital the Centre remains open for our community; so we need a committed and a forward-thinking volunteer to take the reigns! There's an opportunity to further develop the programme to better serve our community's changing interests and preferences.
It's a role that will keep you challenged; managing guests, coordinating volunteers, managing budgets, health and safety... and more! Of course, passion and knowledge of arts and crafts is required too.
The Care and Craft sessions run from 9am - 1pm every Tuesday. There may be other things that pop up during the week e.g. volunteer recruitment.
