Emergency Volunteers

Register now with the Gisborne Volunteer Centre as an Emergency Volunteer. We coordinate requests for assistance from individuals and organisations who need an extra hand during this demanding time. Once registered we will be in touch to discuss how you can help and what the process is should we need to call on you. Tasks could include anything from practical/physical work, to driving, assisting social service organisations, communications, delivering, packing etc. Note some volunteer assignments may require police vetting before we can send you out. Requirements:

Requirements will differ depending on the situation and volunteer roles available.
Things to consider:

  • level of fitness if assisting with practical or physical tasks
  • what equipment/machinery you are able to provide and/or use
  • what physical location you would prefer and your ability to access that area from your current location
  • your interests - people, animals, environment
    We will cover these points and more with you when we contact you after registration.
Time commitment:

Consider what time you might have available to help day/night, morning/afternoon/evening, weekdays/weekends, one-off or ongoing.
