Help collect donations on Westpac Chopper Appeal Day to support lifesaving rescue services in Tairāwhiti.

We’re looking for friendly volunteers to join us on Wednesday 6 May for our annual street appeal. You can take part in a way that suits you, either based at a collection table in the Gisborne CBD, or moving around nearby with a bucket, chatting with people and encouraging donations.

Every dollar raised goes directly to your local rescue helicopter. These crews respond to everything from medical emergencies to search and rescue missions across the region, so your time helps keep this vital service running.

No experience needed, just a willingness to say hello and get involved. You’ll be part of a supportive team and it’s a great way to meet people while contributing to something that really matters locally.

Good fit for someone who:

  • Enjoys talking to people from all walks of life
  • Feels comfortable asking for donations
  • Wants to support emergency services in their community
Requirements:
  • Friendly and approachable manner
  • Reliable and able to commit to your chosen time slot
  • Comfortable interacting with the public
Time commitment:

Wednesday 6 May between 9:30am and 2:30pm.
You can volunteer for as little as one hour, or stay longer if you’re keen.

Getting started:
The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.
