Gisborne Unity Theatre has been bringing people together through theatre for generations. From performances and workshops to social connections and youth development, we believe theatre enriches our community and creates opportunities for people of all ages.
As a Committee Member, you'll help guide the future of the theatre by contributing ideas, skills and enthusiasm to support our activities and long-term goals.

Committee members may be involved in:

  • contributing ideas and constructive input to committee discussions
  • helping organise and support productions, events and fundraising activities
  • promoting theatre activities within the community
  • developing positive relationships with members, volunteers and community organisations
  • helping ensure Unity Theatre remains a vibrant and sustainable community organisation

Whether you have experience in the arts, business, community development, marketing, fundraising, finance, trades, education, or simply a passion for theatre, your perspective and skills can make a valuable contribution.

Requirements:

We're looking for people who:

  • support the value of theatre and community arts
  • are willing to contribute ideas and participate in committee discussions
  • can work positively as part of a team
  • are willing to assist with theatre activities and events when available
Time commitment:
  • Committee meetings are generally held on the first Wednesday of each month from 7.00pm to 9.00pm.
  • No regular committee meeting is normally held in January.
  • Attendance at the Annual General Meeting in March is expected.
  • Additional involvement in productions, events or projects is flexible and based on your interests and availability.
  • Committee members are elected annually and may stand for re-election each year.
