Join a fantastic team of volunteers on a monthly roster to record key articles from the Gisborne Herald for a special phone service that helps people who are blind or have low vision stay connected to local news. You can do it all from the comfort of your own home—knowing that your voice is bringing the news to someone’s ears and making a real difference in their day.

Requirements:

What’s involved:
Have access to the Gisborne Herald on your rostered day.
Read articles clearly and confidently.
Use the Blind Low Vision NZ Telephone Information Service (full training provided).
Complete a general induction with Blind Low Vision NZ.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

Volunteer from just 20–30 minutes once a month—flexible and easy to fit in!
