House of Science is a not for profit organisation with the vision to increase scientific literacy. Member schools receive a science kit every fortnight.
One of our volunteer drivers is moving and we are looking for a replacement driver/s. The number of schools we deliver to is growing so this could also be a permanent volunteer opportunity.
We are looking for volunteer drivers who can collect from and/or deliver science kits to schools. We need a driver, or drivers, for Mondays every 3 weeks of the school term and maybe on Thursday and Fridays every 3 weeks during the school term. Some weeks the kits need to go as far as Wairoa and/or up the East Coast.
We reimburse $0.87 per kilometre for a hybrid car or $1.10 for a petrol car.
KMs get reimbursed once a month after the 20th.
A clean drivers licence is a necessary requirement for this role.
Be able to lift. Some kits are heavy (22kgs). We provide a trolley to transport kits between the car and the school receptions.
The car needs to have the capacity to fit 6 kits which are 650 long x 450 wide x 400 high.
Week 1,4,7 of school terms on a Monday morning from 9am - 11.30am to drop kits to schools as arranged by Manager.
Week 3, 6, 9, 10 on a Thursday morning from 9am - 11am to collect kits from schools as arranged by Manager.
We meed a commitment of at least 3 months to this position.
