Community Native Planting Partners

The Women's Native Tree Project Trust has been active in Te Tairāwhiti for 30+ years. Our kaupapa is to recloak Papatūānuku back in native flora. We collect and grow from ecosourced seed from Te Tairāwhiti and gift our rākau to community spaces like schools, marae, council reserves.

Every second Wednesday we get together for a couple hours in our nursery (EIT Stout Street) as well as holding regular working bees out in the community. Tasks include weeding, potting up, planting. There's a big social aspect to our mahi, we all enjoy a kōrero and finish the day with shared kai.

No experience is necessary - just a great attitude. Gloves and boots are provided. We welcome everyone - even those with tamariki, we'd love to share our nursery with them. Check us out on Facebook to see what we get up to!
