Celebrating Our 2025 Volunteers of the Month
At the Gisborne Volunteer Centre, we are continually inspired by the dedication and passion of our volunteers. Each month, we recognise individuals who have been nominated for their service to our community. Here are the outstanding volunteers we've celebrated so far in 2025:
🎉 Lizzy Hyland: Lizzy is a passionate and dedicated advocate for The Nest Collective, always going above and beyond to support whānau and the organisation. Lizzy's energy, kindness and drive make her an invaluable part of the community.
🎉 Andrew Stevens: Andrew is going the extra mile to build an incredible set for Evolution Theatre's production of Picasso at the Lapin Agile.
🎉Mary McClutchie: Mary was nominated for her role as Secretary for the City of Gisborne Army Cadet Unit. Her support, time and commitment are vital to the Unit's operations in our region.
🎉Katarina Waikaho: Katarina is a superstar volunteer with Parafed Gisborne Tairāwhiti, where she runs the weekly boccia sessions in Uawa and always goes above and beyond for their members.
🎉Paul Bayly: Paul was nominated for being the acting Manager for the Gisborne RSA in a volunteer capacity since June 2023. Noted as being always available when needed, without his contribution the club would not be able to operate as it has been.
🎉Kauri Forno: Kauri is nominated for being an amazing, consistent and compassionate Big Sister to her mentee through Big Brothers Big Sisters.
And just announced, our May winners:
🎉Pru Clayden: Pru was nominated for her commitment as the Meals on Wheels coordinator for 18 years! Although she has just stepped down from that role, Pru is still driving for the service.
🎉Joan Gledhill: Joan generously gives her time to Supergrans, assisting in the foodbank. Her friendly nature and dedication shine through in all she does.
Thank you to everyone who has put forward nominations and thanks to all the awesome volunteers in our community.
