2025 AGM and Annual Report

In September, the Gisborne Volunteer Centre held its Annual General Meeting, a time to reflect on the year just gone, celebrate successes, and look ahead to the future.

For those who are new to us, the Gisborne Volunteer Centre was established in 2001 as a charitable trust dedicated to strengthening volunteering in Tairāwhiti. We connect individuals with meaningful opportunities, support community organisations, and provide training, workshops, and events that celebrate and promote volunteering. By working alongside local groups, businesses, and individuals, we help match skills and passions with roles that create a real impact.

Over the past year, the Centre has continued to grow. We have welcomed more new and active volunteers, facilitated a greater number of referrals, and advertised an increasing range of roles. Our signature events such as the Two Minutes of Good Stuff film festival, the Big Shout Out morning tea, and workshops like Stress Less This Summer have all celebrated and supported volunteers across our region.

We have also expanded initiatives like youth volunteering and group volunteering, strengthened relationships with member organisations, and hosted regular volunteer leader meetings. Alongside these, we continue to promote unique and meaningful roles such as nail pampering for rest home residents and assisting visually impaired bowlers, which highlight the many ways volunteering enriches our community.

None of this would be possible without the generous support of local and national funders, businesses, and community partners. Your contribution helps us foster a thriving culture of volunteering in Tairāwhiti, creating lasting connections and strengthening our region.
