The treasurer's role is to oversee the financial operations and monitor expenses against the annual budget. ​
This voluntary role is supported by a paid accounts administrator who reconciles accounts and processes payments and wages.

This means that as treasurer you will not be bogged down in the daily accounting tasks but asked to think strategically considering ongoing liquidity management.
You will oversee the finances ensuring accounts are up-to-date. Present financial reports at monthly meetings from our Xero account. Prepare the annual budget. Liaise with the auditor for the annual audit. 


An interest in helping people get ahead through budgeting support.
Qualification and experience in accounting services.
Willingness and capability to become a signatory and authorise electronic bank payments and transfers.
Must pass a clean slate records check from the Ministry of Justice.

A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

The committee meets monthly for about 90 minutes to 2 hours max.
Minimal in-between tasks such as authorizing electronic payments and viewing Xero reports etc.
Can join sub-committee(s) for activities/projects, strategic planning etc on occasion.
No January meeting. AGM October/November as decided by the committee.
